Meet Our
Teachers
We are a community operated kindergarten that welcomes and encourages family participation and involvement in our program.
Our vision is for all children to experience play-based learning that is engaging and builds success for life. Play is the work of the child (Maria Montessori). Our teachers guide children’s play experiences by carefully designing learning experiences and activities exploring the foundations of the Early Years Learning Development Framework.

I initially qualified with a Bachelor of Education in Primary school in Tasmania, and worked as a Primary Teacher for many years in Tasmania, London and Dublin. I then returned to Uni to complete a second degree in Early Childhood teaching. I started my journey with Crossway Preschool in 2019 as the Wombat 4 year old teacher.

Teacher Wombat 4YO Group
Fondly known as “Miss Martine” I started working at Crossway Preschool in 2009 as the 3yo and 4yo teacher. Initially trained in primary education, I quickly realised my passion was in early education and now hold a dual degree. After 15+ years of teaching I find the children still teach me something new every day. I am reminded how lucky we are as educators to spend this time with your children nurturing their development.
I am a creative soul and enjoy helping children to find what they love at kindergarten and uncover their unique personalities. As a mum of a teenage boy I am reminded every day how special this time is and how quickly children grow. Our team value the time spent with your children and make every moment count.

Maria Carpino
Koala Activity Group leader 4YO
In 2013 I started with Crossway Preschool as was given the opportunity to lead the 3yo program. It wasn’t long before I realised my heart was in teaching and so began my journey back to university to qualify as a teacher. For many children, 3yo kindergarten is the first time they have been away from their mum. With that in mind, my job is to ensure all children feel safe and secure as they experience this first taste of lifelong learning. We giggle, we sing and we get really messy! Memories are created and friends are made. It’s all in a day’s work at 3 year kindergarten – how could anyone not love this job!

Educator Wombat and Koala 4YO Group
I began working at Crossway Preschool in 2018. With 20+ years of Early Childhood experience, there is not a day that goes by that I am not fascinated by a child’s innocent and carefree approach to life and learning. Children remind me of how precious and uncomplicated life can be and I use this to guide their learning.

Heather Forster
Sports coach 4YO Group
Whether it be music, games or obstacle courses I encourage children to get active, try new games and build their social skills. I play with the children in an effort to develop their coordination and sense of self. I am fortunate to have been given the opportunity to teach this highly valued perceptual motor program at Brighton Baptist Kindergarten since 2003.
